The only contraindications of being treated with GLP-1 receptor agonists are having a history of medullary thyroid cancer and pancreatitis. If you have a history of these conditions, you would not be a candidate for this class of medications.

It is important to be aware of potential side effects such as gastroesophageal reflux, nausea, diarrhea and constipation. We start out at a low dose to decrease the side effects. I am always available to discuss any concerns that my patients have.
